The Project Supervisor of The Straight Child Foundation, TSCF Mr. Bright Amadi, has disclosed that 63 children with congenital clubfoot were enrolled in the month of September, 2024 and commenced on treatment across the 17 Clubfoot clinics in the 10 states covered by The Straight Child Foundation.
Briefing newsmen in Umuahia, Abia State on the successes recorded by TSCF and the number of Clubfoot cases received for the month of September, Mr. Amadi stated that about 69 percent of the children with Clubfoot were below the age of 12 months.
According to him, the Organization maintained an average casting visits of less than 5 per child, before tenotomy.
He disclosed further that about 89 percent of the children enrolled so far received tenotomy in line with global standards as at the end of the month, with less than 10 percent of the children on treatment dropping out at the casting and bracing level, respectively.
His words, “Towards the enhancement of Clubfoot Surveillance, Early Detection and Referral of cases for treatment, TSCF organized one session each, of Early Detection and Referral Training for health workers at the Primary Health Care level in Warri, Delta State; Kabba, Kogi State; and Izzi, Ebonyi State”.
Furthermore, he said that Supportive Supervisory Visit was made to Enugu State University Teaching Hospital, Park Lane, Enugu for hands-on training and assessment of clinic operations.
