The Deputy Mayor of Umuahia South Local Government Area of Abia State, Hon. Nwabueze Oledingwa, has called on the Federal Government to review its economic policies for the wellbeing of the masses who are suffering.

Interacting with newsmen in Umuahia, Abia State as Nigeria celebrates Independence Day anniversary, Hon. Oledingwa, decried that most homes barely have a square meal per day and most people have parked their vehicles as a result of the hike in petrol price and other economic challenges.

He passionately appealed to the Federal Government to help the masses feel the impact of leadership in a democratic setting.

He disclosed that Abians are happy with the leadership style of Governor Alex Otti and since his emergence as the Governor, all sectors of the state are booming.

He described the governor as a leader who understands politics and governance and has shown maturity and experience in leadership within the period under review.

The Deputy Mayor who lauded the financial autonomy granted to the local government, the proactive steps to conduct a seamless local government election in the state by Governor Otti, also appreciated his boss, the Mayor of Umuahia South, Attorney Ejikeme Obike for the security measures put in place, which have made the area a haven for the inhabitants and investors.
