Ndagbo Town Union, Eluoma Uzuakoli, in Bende Local Government Area of Abia State, Saturday, launched her N50 million naira ultramodern town hall building.

The Foundation of the building was laid by a philanthropist, Elder Chijioke Charles Dinnenya, some 17 years ago.

Speaking during the event, which took place at Ama Ndagbo Eluoma village square, Uzuakoli, the member representing Bende South State Constituency in the State House of Assembly, Hon. Emmanuel Ndubuisi, who was apparently moved by concerted efforts by the community leadership to mobilize their sons and daughters to raise funds for the completion of the developmental project, encouraged community leaderships to strive to identify their needs in the community and work towards achieving them.

Hon. Ndubuisi, who also was the Chairman of the occasion also emphasized the need to mobilize and motivate the natives both at home and in the diaspora towards giving back to the Communities.

He appreciated the President General of Ndagbo Town Union, Hon. Martin Nwokoro and his executive which came on board within a period of three and half years to accomplish the feat.

Furthermore, he prayed that the hall would attract more blessings to the community, even as he appreciated all those who contributed to its actualization.

Speaking also, the traditional ruler of Eluoma autonomous community, Uzuakoli kingdom, HRH Eze Okezie Chijioke, who said he felt fulfilled and happy with the developmental project, pointed out that it is part of Igbo tradition to have a place to gather together for deliberations.

The Royal father who preached peace and community development in Eluoma and Uzuakoli, encouraged his people to be willing to contribute their quota to the growth and progress of Uzuakoli community.

Presenting an address earlier, the President General of Ndagbo Town Union, Hon. Martin Nwokoro, who disclosed that the foundation of the modern hall was laid by a philanthropist, late Elder Chijioke Dinnenya, some 17 years ago, expressed joy that his administration through the support of the progressive members of the community, completed the project.

He passionately appealed to those in the community who do not show interest and concern about the development of Ndagbo Eluoma community to turn a new leaf, join hands and show commitment in that regard.

“Let us not forget that there is no place like home. Our home Ndagbo Eluoma Uzuakoli needs your ideas, insights and involvement in guiding the growth of our community and progress. We should not let the labours of our Heroes past be in vain”, the PG further appealed, just as he reminded his people that, “when everyone participates from the beginning, we can be assured that our decisions are inclusive and beneficial for all”.

In a brief speech, the Chairman, Planning Committee, Barr. Chukwuemeka Nwokoro appreciated Ndagbo sons and daughters who contributed towards the realization/actualization of the project.

Interacting with our correspondent, one of the awardees and former Deputy National Chairman of All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA Chief Uchenna Okogbuo, expressed joy that Ndagbo Eluoma community, which owns the richest commercial lands in Uzuakoli were able to achieve the project, kudos to the progressive and development oriented Nwokoro led administration.

He promised to continue to contribute meaningfully to the growth of the community.

The event featured the inauguration of Umuada Nwanyi Ndagbo Group in Diaspora, launching of the town hall, and exhibition of the rich cultural heritage of Ndagbo Eluoma by Ndagbo men.

Awards presented during the event include: Pillar of Ndagbo; leadership/community building award; strategic commitment/development award; humanitarian services/human development and community transformation award; community development/services; community bridge/peace builders; and meritorious award for excellent services.
