The President General who also observed that forgetting a hurtful or traumatic experience could be seen and perceived as impossible, however advised that burying and ignoring the experience would solve the long-term dysfunctionality that could be caused by repressing emotions.

While pointing out that forgiveness remains the ultimate test of love and the characteristic act of God, Amb. Onyegbule said, “in the Lord’s Prayer we pray, forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us. It is not easy, but we should not pretend to forgive but to do it genuinely because forgiveness is a primary act of faith if we are to follow and imitate Jesus”.

According to IEGDU PG, when we bury the hatchet, peace which is a pre-requisite for development will come in to create an enabling environment for human capital formation, infrastructure development among others, which are the fundamentals of a society’s progress.

“In the absence of peace, education and health structures break down, systems to provide infrastructure disintegrate, and legal commerce is crippled, so we should strive to avoid these or reduce restiveness to its barest minimum by abiding strictly to the concept and teachings of Kiss and Make Up Day”. Amb. Onyegbule further observed.

Kiss and Make Up Day according to the records available was created by a woman named Jacqueline Milton to re-examine old relationships and find ways to repair them.
