The Association of Professional Photographers, Abia State, APPAS Chairman for 2024 World Photography Day/Photo Festival Planning Committee, Mr. Anthony Agu Uka has passionately called on the tiers of government 

to invest in infrastructure and beautification of the environment to help professional photographers showcase their craft.

Interacting with our correspondent through WhatsApp chat as Nigeria joined the rest of countries across the globe to mark the year 2024 World Photography Day, Mr. Uka, the CEO of Tonysteve Photography also called on the government to provide funding and resources for photography programs, exhibitions, and initiatives that would promote Nigerian culture and creativity.

Mr. Agu, who also appealed to the government to recognize the value and impact of visual storytelling in shaping public perception and policy, called for collaboration with photographers to showcase the nation’s beauty, culture, and heritage, geared towards promoting tourism and economic growth.

His words, “World Photography Day is celebrated on August 19th of every year. It is a day to appreciate the art of photography, the photographers who capture moments, and the impact of photography on our lives. The day aims to promote photography, inspire photographers, and raise awareness about the importance of photography in our lives”, Mr. Uka explained.

He urged all Photographers and photography enthusiasts to celebrate the day by sharing their photos on social media and participating in the Photo Walk.
