Married couples have been encouraged not to allow the present condition of the society filled with economic challenges/uncertainties weigh them down but to celebrate each other and create lasting memories that they would cherish for years to come.
Interacting with our correspondent through WhatsApp chat as some countries across the globe celebrates the year 2024 Couple’s Day, the wife of the Archdeacon/Vicar of Holy Trinity Church, Anglican communion, Ubakala in Umuahia South L.G.A, of Abia State, Mrs Chinyere Emeruwa, advised couples to try to do something unique and simple like a handwritten love letter or a homemade gift, or something more elaborate like a piece of jewelry or a personalized gift that holds special meaning for both partners.
National Couple’s Day offers couples an opportunity to commemorate their relationship. Usually, this day is filled with various activities, special gestures, and couples spending quality time together.
According to her there are a variety of ways that couples could celebrate Couples Day and make the day special for each other and one of the simplest ways to celebrate is by spending quality time together doing activities that both partners enjoy.
She advised couples to go out for a romantic dinner, take a scenic walk in nature, afterwards, stay in and watch a favourite movie together.
“To make Couple’s Day even more special, couples can exchange thoughtful gifts as a way to express their love and appreciation for each other.
“Ultimately, the most important thing is to make the day memorable and unique to your relationship, showcasing the love and connection that you share with each other”, Emeruwa asserted.
She also pointed out that Couple’s Day is a time to celebrate the bond that partners have built together and the annual celebration was designed to create lasting memories that they can cherish for years to come.
Celebrated every year on August 18, National Couples Day was created in 2010 as part of a product promotion. It’s since evolved into a non-commercial celebration of the love, companionship, and sense of well-being that coupledom can bring.
