The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Lands and Housing, Town Planner Ukeje Ukpabi has expressed that the Ministry’s  modus operandi of Staff development programme/capacity building would definitely uplift the staff’s service performance.

Speaking during the Staff General Meeting cum Capacity Development Training of  staff of the Ministry in Umuahia, Abia state, Mr. Ukpabi pledged to avail all staff of the Ministry with copies of the Public Service Rules, Financial Regulations and Scheme of Service, to help each officer know what his schedule of duties is for every grade level.

 He also encouraged the staff to do right always and to live a life that would be pleasing to God and to every well meaning citizen.

Citing the Bible book of Proverbs chapter 11 verse 1, the Permanent Secretary admonished against such ills as falsification of date of birth certificates or any other Service records as being abhorrent and should therefore be eschewed.

“The LORD hates cheating, but he delights in honesty and so does our Governor, Dr. Alex Otti”, the Permanent Secretary reiterated.

He used the forum to appreciate Gov. Alex Otti for his transparent and exemplary leadership style that has given hope to the Public Service and retirees.

He equally appreciated the Commissioner, Mr. Chaka Chukwumerije for his sterling performance and achievements recorded in his one year as Commissioner of the Ministry.

He commended the Head of Service, Dr. Mrs Queen Obioma for calling for the election and  inauguration of Staff Welfare Associations across the MDAs, which was successfully conducted  by the Director of Tax, Dr Orji Inyamah.

Furthermore, the Permanent Secretary tasked the newly elected Chairman of the Association, Mr. Akandu Jacobson and the Executive to aspire to discharge their duties creditably.

Responding on behalf of his newly elected Executive, Mr. Jacobson, appreciated the staff for finding them worthy to lead, and called for their unalloyed support, while also promising to perform effectively and efficiently to the admiration of the entire staff.
