To salvage Nigeria and the society in general from self destruction, the President of Vision Africa International, Bishop Sunday Ndukwo Onuoha has recommended that, there has to be re-orientation of the human mind which will enhance behavioural change and transformation of the human mind.
To this end, he has challenged media workers to make their message authentic either as media communicators, or as pulpit faith-based managers.
Bishop Onuoha who stated this while declaring open the ongoing 11th edition of the 2024 Vision Africa media institute training on the theme, “the message and the messenger: authentic communication skills for media professionals” encouraged communicators to bear in mind that they are accountable for/to the people who listens to them.
Bishop Onuoha decried the situation in many African countries like Nigeria where no proper planning are made for the future generation, lamenting that it is disheartening that about 20 million people in Nigeria are Out-of-School.
He therefore called on media practitioners to create authentic media content that will reflect shared humanity as well as promote peace.
Also in his speech, a security expert, Chief Raymond Nkemdirim, who gave credence to the use of technology, which he said has given an edge to security agencies across the globe, pointed out that this has made it easier to survey, detect and supervise security activities.
Chief Nkemdirim whose speech centered on the ethical consideration in Artificial Intelligence, AI, revealed that AI is taking over places and displacing people from their various job ranging from business to building and security.
The former director of DSS however warned that there are ethical abuse, privacy and breach in personal information as regards the use of artificial intelligence.
Speaking also, the President and founder of Sharing international, Dr Chuck Pollak, who said that every form of communication both verbal and non-verbal are all involved with the media, described the media as the best, fun and the most impactful job anyone can have.
According to him, the media does change the world either for good or for evil.
The CEO and lead photography for wander studio, Jeff Wilson, gave a lecture on the topic: “Photographer composition and videography: The four key Element, during the training.
Others who gave lectures during the workshop include: Don Geiger (Key element of effective story-telling, Define and Develop your story idea); Associate Professor of Cinema and Television Arts at Elon University, North Carolina, Dr Vic Costello (Creating visual Narrative with photos); while the Assistant General Manager /Outreach Director at KCBI FM, Sharon Geiger also lectured on the topic Turning Para -Social Relationship Real social media and personal impact.
