In an effort at combating the menace of sexual harassment and the emotional trauma that goes with it, the National Youth Service Corps scheme, has embarked on a nationwide campaign against sexual harassment in all her 36 states and FCT orientation camps, with a charge for the Corps Members to step down the campaign to their various host communities when posted.

Speaking at the sensitization lectures to the 2024 Batch “B” Stream 1 corps members on Saturday at the Multipurpose hall of the Umunna, Bende NYSC Abia Orientation Camp, the Head of Lectures, Mrs. Chidinma Chikezie-Osuagwu advised the corps members to desist from acts that could expose them to sexual harassments, by avoiding such conducts as flirting, stalking, sextortion, indecent exposures, wolf whistling, rape, blackmail amongst others.

She further advised them to avoid lifestyles that could expose them to rape, noting that being  bold in resisting any suggestive comments, and advances with sexual undertone is one sure way of avoiding sexual harassment.

In a related development, the Gender Desk Officer, NYSC Abia, Mrs. Chizube Ogbonna has charged Corps Members in Abia Camp to join the NYSC in the campaign for gender balance and equality.

Mrs. Ogbonna gave the charge on Saturday while delivering the Gender Sensitization lectures to the 2024 Batch “B” Stream 1 corps members currently undergoing their Orientation course in the state.
