Recently, the Association of Sacred Heart of Jesus and Immaculate Heart of Mary marked the year 2024 annual Diocesan celebration of the solemnity of the sacred Heart of Jesus and the feast of immaculate Heart of Mary at St. Theresa’s Catholic parish, Umuahia, Abia State.
The event featured a special recognition session of which a total number of 15 carefully selected parishioners drawn virtually from all the nooks and crannies of the Umuahia Diocese were recognized as Benefactors and Benefactress.
Speaking while launching the Diocesan Evangelism Support Fund shortly after the Eucharistic mass which saw him honoured by the Association, Sir. Dr. Francis Egwuekwe, one of the benefactors, enjoined the Christian faithful to love God with their Time, Talent, and Treasure, as giving, a-one aspect of a lifestyle of honouring God, remains a key aspect of stewardship and does much to shape the heart.
Egwuekwe who described time as precious, encouraged the congregation to strive to help and see to the growth of the church and humanity.
While pointing out that one’s gift of treasure is a direct gift only he or she can give, explained further that money is not evil, nor does the Bible identify money as the underlying cause of all bad things.
According to him, sharing treasure is a Christian need that shows gratitude to God for the material gifts bestowed to us.

Sir Egwuekwe, congratulated the Association for their olive gesture and promised to be friendly and close to the Association’s calendar of events.

During the mass earlier, the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Mathias Uwakwe, who preached about Commitment in the Church, said that such an act qualifies one to be recognized, hence the need for those recognized by the Association to do more to buttress the honour done unto them.
