Abia State Governor Alex Otti has assured the National Youth Service Corps Scheme in the State of better days ahead stating that the best is yet to come.
Governor Otti said this on Friday 7th June 2024, when Mrs, Gladys Adama, the State Coordinator NYSC Abia, paid him a Courtesy visit.
While responding to the brief of the Coordinator, Otti promised to look into the numerous challenges of the scheme as quickly as possible, both to give the scheme a decent and secured work environment to operate in, and for the payment of state allowances to Corps Members serving in the state.
According to the Governor, now that we are done with the very challenging and pressing needs of the state, as much as possible, we can now take a look at your challenges to see a way of solving them one after the other, within available resources.
He promised that he will be dispatching the Commissioner for Youth development to work with his special assistants in order to give the scheme a decent and secured environment to operate.
‘It is in our character to take the welfare of those who work in our state seriously. As much as possible, It should not be a problem for us to make your stay here comfortable’, Otti once again assured Mrs Adama.
Earlier the Coordinator who congratulated the Governor for his impactful one year in Office, presented to the Governor the deplorable State of the NYSC state secretariat, the Orientation camp in Umunna Bende, and State Coordinator’s resident in addition to corps members allowance, with a passionate appeal for government’s urgent attention.
In a vote of thanks, on behalf of the visiting NYSC team, Corps Member, Nwajie Success Jonathan, thanked the Governor for granting NYSC audience and for all the warm assurances and prayed God to grant him wisdom to lead the state aright.
The visit was Mrs Adama’s first official visit to the Governor since her assumption of office, as the 17th State Coordinator of NYSC, in April.
The Coordinator was accompanied by the Assistant Directors, Human Resource Management, Planing Research and Statistics and Community Developments Service, Mrs Gift Candida, Mrs Ari Christy and Mr David Okoye respectively, in addition to 3 Corps Members.
