Umuahia Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, UCCIMA has mourned the brutal killing of the nation’s gallant soldiers at the Obikabia Junction Checkpoint in Obingwa Local Government Area, Aba, Abia State, on May 30, 2024.
The Chamber which sent out its heartfelt condolences to the Nigerian Army, the families of the deceased, and their comrades-in-arms, in a release made available to our correspondent through WhatsApp, decried that every soldier lost in service is a grievous blow to the nation.
In the release also, the President of UCCIMA, Chief Chidi Nkem Aruoma, who stated that the Chamber share in the pain of this immense loss, encouraged the military not to get distracted by the incident but to continue to work together with Gov. Alex Otti to secure Abia state, which Otti also appreciated they have been doing in the last one year that Otti has been Governor of the State.
While also appreciating the thorough investigation into the killing by the government, Chief Aruoma, consoled the wives and relatives of the bereaved soldiers, adding, “This killing is very painful, we are saddened in UCCIMA”, even as he appealed to the military not to allow innocent citizens suffer from the actions of the culprits.

He expressed optimism that the issue would be resolved and Law and Order would be maintained and also Aba and Abia be made safer for business and economic development and growth.
Chief Chidi Nkem Aruoma, who also appreciated Gov. Otti for visiting the 144 Battalion, Nigerian Army, the bereaved families, and also paying a morale boosting visit to the officers and men of the 144 Battalion, Nigerian Army, at the Ngwa High School, Aba, pointed out that such was apt and would also help to strengthen civil-military relationship in the state.
