Christian mothers have been encouraged not to be weighed down by the burdens and sorrows encountered in the present society but to hold tenaciously to the Christ Jesus promise that He will lift the burdens they go through in life.

Speaking during the Diocesan Mothers’ Union conference at St. Peters Church, Amizi, Olokoro, Umuahia South L.G.A, of Abia State, the President of the Women Ministry, Dr. Mrs. Gospel Ogechi Geo-Ibeabuchi, pointed out that the grave/grief situation in Nigeria should draw the mothers closer to God who exist and has all it takes to turn sorrows into joy.

She enjoined the delegates to celebrate God’s presence and share testimonies, reflect on the programme’s theme during the conference as their light has come.

In a welcome address, the Vice President of Olokoro North Archdeaconry, Mrs. Oluonye Favour Ifeanyi Irokwe, reminded the delegates that Christ Jesus has borne the grief of the faithful despite the many pains, sorrows, afflictions, oppressions, hardship, hopelessness, unfruitfulness that have bedeviled the world including Nigeria.

“We bless the name of the Lord for His grace and mercies upon our lives to witness this conference despite the economic crises, hardship and high cost of living. His faithfulness is unto all generations and He will continue to be our refuge and shelter”, Mrs Ironkwe further edified the delegates.

Earlier in an opening address, Associate Prof. Elsie Nkemdilim Alozie, Chairperson Conference Planning Committee tasked the delegates to cling on the old rugged cross that gave and still giving believers life in abundance and victory over every life challenge, principalities, power, sickness and condemnation.

“The world is presently facing the worst global economic challenges in history. But God has a plan in place to exempt His people as He did for the Israelites in the land of Egypt.

“Jesus paid the price of our redemption willingly, going like a lamb to the slaughter. In doing so, He fulfilled promises God has made to Israel that He would forgive their sins”, Associate Prof. Alozie stated as she went further to espouse and expound the theme of the conference drawn from the Bible book of Isaiah chapter 53 verse 4.
