Umuahia Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture UCCIMA has appreciated the Abia State Governor Alex Otti’s administration that has within a period of one year, improved the ease of doing business, which has also encouraged the influx of investors into the State.
The Chamber however called on the government to partner with the organized private sector in the capital city in its strive to revitalize and improve on trade, commerce, and industry in Umuahia, which will in turn create job opportunities for youths.
In a release made available to our correspondent through WhatsApp, the UCCIMA President Chief Chidi Nkem Aruoma, maintained that a healthy relationship between UCCIMA and the Abia State Government will among other things, see to the socio-economic growth of Umuahia.

While appreciating the governing philosophy of Otti’s administration which he observed is centered on transparency, traceability, accountability, optimal performance, as well as participatory monitoring and evaluation, Aruoma assured that the Chamber would continue to support his administration’s efforts at making the state an industrial corridor towards enhancing its development.
The UCCIMA boss who further lauded the flag off for the commencement of a multi-billion naira terminal project aimed at transforming Umuahia by the governor, passionately requested the railway system of transportation which is currently being enjoyed in Aba be extended from the commercial city to the capital city.
“Building the terminal will help our SME operators, create employment, reduce youth’s restiveness and increase revenue for the state. Also we request the government to look into activating the railway lines from Aba to Umuahia. This will help our SME operators to effectively move their raw materials and finished products”.
He moreover stressed that bridging the perceived communication gap between the Abia State Government and the UCCIMA would turn to a formidable entity needed to boost the pace of industrial development in the capital city
