Harrison Goodness Foundation, HGF has urged has urged the Nigerian leaders and the citizens to project the beauty of the nation s cultural diversity, as Nigeria joined the rest of countries across the globe to observe the 2024 World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development.
World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development invites Nigerians and other global citizens to reflect on the vital role of dialogue in reducing cultural divisions and fostering mutual respect.
Interacting with our correspondent through WhatsApp, the Chairman of Harrison Goodness Foundation, Chief Richard Harrison observed that the World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development does not only celebrate the richness of the Nigerian nay the world’s cultures, but also celebrates the essential role of intercultural dialogue for achieving peace and sustainable development.

Chief Harrison harped on the need for the citizens to appreciate, promote and celebrate the nation’s diverse cultural heritage as a source of strength and unity.
According to him, Nigerians should take pride in their culture and recognize its potential to drive economic development, social and mental wellbeing, and national unity.
Chief Harrison pointed out that one of the reasons which led to the revitalization and resuscitation of the biannual Otampa cultural carnival in Isuikwuato Local Government Area of Abia State was to promote dialogue and development of the area.
Also interacting with our correspondent in Umuahia, Abia State, the President General of Ahuwa-Oboro autonomous community, Oboro clan in Ikwuano Local Government Area of Abia State, Engr. Dr. James Nnadozie Uchegbuo encouraged Nigerians to seize the opportunity offered by the cultural diversity day to contemplate on how to transform the nation into a culturally advanced society by honouring and celebrating the festivities of various religions and the diverse ethnic minorities that enrich the country.
Uchegbuo, who is also the President General of Igbo Vanguard Group, IVG a sociocultural organization, who also called on the stakeholders to look into the numerous limitations that has hindered the complete manifestation of cultural diversity in the country, maintained that Nigeria boasts distinctive cultural legacies, which should be revived, maintained and sustained and have same passed on over several generations.

Uchegbuo further observed that the day reminds not only Nigerians but to entire people of the earth that our differences are not barriers but catalysts for dialogue, understanding, and collaboration.
“By embracing and respecting diverse cultures, we enrich our own perspectives and expand our horizons, fostering a more inclusive and harmonious global community”, Uchegbuo observed also the aim of the celebration.
Uchegbuo also disclosed plans to resuscitate the annual Ahuwa day celebration which sought to promote the rich cultural heritage and recreation of the people.
Held every year on 21 May, UNESCO leads the celebration of World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development highlighting not only the richness of the world’s cultures, but also the essential role of intercultural dialogue for achieving peace and sustainable development.
