It was a gathering of major stakeholders, foundation members and grassroot members of the All Progressive Congress, APC Abia State chapter in Umuahia on Saturday last week to proffer ways of peace in order to prepare the party for better performance ahead of 2027 elections.
The State Chairman and the convener of the meeting, Hon.Goldie Wabara brought together 184 ward chairmen and their Deputies; the LGA executives of the party in the 17 local government areas of the State, major stakeholders of the party in the state, professionals and academia of the party to preach the need for all to foster for peace and unity among leaders, followers and party faithful across all levels of the party organs in the state.
In his remark, Hon Goldie Wabara appreciated members of the party for listening to the clarion call for peace among party faithfuls, and their steadfastness to the party and her growth.
He appealed that all should collectively pray and work for peace and love among all the party chieftain and leaders in order to build a stronger force that will unify the party and prepare her for a better results and greater task ahead.
He said he was ready to sacrifice anything to achieve peace in the party, if that is what it will take.
Addressing the crowd numbering about 789 party faithfuls, the member representing Abia State in Public Complaint Commission, Hon. Dr. Madukwe Ukegbu acknowledge the need for members to have peace in the party.
He promised to sacrifice everything within his powers to bring peace to Abia APC.
He promised to reach out to every leader individually and collectively to bring them together to speak as an entity in one voice.
He advised every member of the party to seek for peace at all time to enable the party grow in unity to achieve better results for the party at all levels.
Other leaders that spoke in the same direction of peace extensively include Dr Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah, Hon.Barr. Anderson Akaliro, member representing Umuahia North state constituency in Abia State House of Assembly, Dr. Mrs Gladys Nwokocha, Mazi Agodi Kanu ( A security and intelligence Expert), and Dr Mrs Ori Obasi.
Other party loyalists who spoke respectively, sued for peace among leaders and members, to enable the party prepare adequately for 2027 elections.
They also noted that without peace, nothing tangible would be achieved for the party.
Addressing pressmen at the end of the meeting, an APC Chieftain and leader Hon. Chief Offor Okerie, lauded leaders like Hon. Ifeanyi Ogbonna (Ignis) Hon. Chief Donatus Nwankpa, the National Welfare Secretary of the party, Hon Chief Henry Ikechukwu Ikoh, Senator Nkechi Nwogu, Hon Chief Ifeanyi Collins Eke, Hon. Henry Ogbulogo, Member representing Abia in Federal Character Commission, and specially Dr Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah amongst other leaders for their contributions and roles towards bringing lasting peace to APC Abia State.
Offor fires at detractors who would stop at nothing to see that peace won’t be achieved in Abia APC, saying that their plans and deceit will fail woefully.
“Any leader or person that is causing rancor among the leaders will be put to shame”, Offor said, even as he warned all the unstable character causing problems in the party to stop or would be openly disgrace someday.
“The party need peace to win elections. All mudslingers and muckraker who will stop at nothing to see APC Abia does not have peace,will definitely fail”.
He called on leaders and major stakeholders of the party to come together, sit together, and reason together for the growth of the party.
Offor who thanked Dr Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah for donating additional vehicles to the party, encouraged other leaders to emulate Ogah in empowering party faithfuls, which has made him gain the highest number of followers across-the-board, instead of fanning the fire of division and destruction in the party through their action and utterances which have not help the party in anyway.
The meeting was attended by many groups and faithful of different leaders in Abia APC. Among groups identified in attendance were members of OUK movement, Members of Peace in South East movement, Abia APC Integrity group, party faithfuls loyal to our Hon. Minister of Labour and Employment Party faithful loyal to Dr. Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah; the Deputy Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives and many other aggrieved groups in the party.
Highpoint of the meeting was the donation of a new bus to Abia APC and 17 new saloon cars to 17 loyal APC faithfuls from the 17 local government areas of the state by Dr. Ogah.
