Igbo Ekene Global Development Union, IEGDU, a sociocultural organization known for its efforts to unite the Igbos and promote the rich cultural heritage of the Southeastern region has mapped out strategies which will help the Organization to be better equipped to have a global ideas, ideals and involvement and to be at par with the modern trends in the ever changing world.
The resolution was reached at the residence of the new IEGDU Abia State/Southeast Chairman, Elder Boniface Onwunka at Umuosu-Umunna Nsulu in Isiala Ngwa North LGA of Abia state during an important meeting for all Executive members, National, State and Local Government Leaders of the Organization.
Speaking at the meeting, the President General of the Organization, Amb. Moses Onyegbule, tasked the new Chairman to carry IEGDU forward and make it wear a better outlook in the southeast region, Nigeria and the global village.
“I want Igbo Ekene Global Development Union to go forward and I know your value and you are capable of reawakening other chairmen in the southeast region to action”, Amb. Onyegbule tasked the new Chairman.
He called on members who are aggrieved to sheath their swords and join hands with the new Chairman and contribute meaningfully to the progress of the Organization.
Speaking respectively also, a stakeholder of the Organization, Mr. Osita Ogbonia, Abia Central Woman leader, Mrs Ngozi Ajonu; State Assistant Secretary, Mrs Charity Opara; Elder Michael Orji, State Chairman of the 17 LGA Igbo Ekene Global Development Union coordinators and the National Secretary (South) of the Organization, Mrs Ngozi Irechukwu, harped on the urgent need of the Organization’s constitution to be reviewed in order to match the global standard like other sociocultural organizations.
They maintained that such a review would also serve as a panecea to the way forward of Igbo Ekene Global Development Union.
In his speech, the new IEGDU Abia State/Southeast Chairman, Elder Boniface Onwunka exposed plans to repackage the Organization, restore its vigour, promote unity of purpose and accountability in order to forge ahead.
“Igbo Ekene Global Development Union is a sociocultural organization that also sees to the welfare of its members and the entire Igbo race. It is a well-known Organization that is almost moving at the same pace with Ohaneze Ndigbo. So we should come together and support it to stand out among others at both home, in diaspora and in the foreign lands. We should join hands to build this great organization in order to take its pride of place. We should shun backwardness and other factors that are inimical to the growth of any given Organization.”, Elder Onwunka passionately appealed.
The National Provost of the Organization, Mr. Maduabuchi Dickson among others were in attendance.
