The Umuahia Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, UCCIMA Chief Chidi Nkem Aruoma has passionately called on the government at all levels to introduce new regulations and policies related to workplace safety and health in the context of climate change.

In a goodwill message to Abia workforce which also reflect on the theme of this year’s celebration, “Safety and Health at Work in a Changing Climate,” during the 2024 Workers Day celebration, Chief Aruoma observed that climate change can expose workers to various health risks, such as heat stress among other negative effects.

While describing the  theme as apt and has significant implications for the Nigerian business community, Aruoma urged the labour force to be committed to their responsibilities as part of its contribution toward nation-building.

He further enjoined the work force to display great loyalty to their organisations, and to adhere to work ethics to attain maximum economic benefits through business expansion and increased productivity. 

The UCCIMA boss commended the state’s workers for their diligence and high sense of commitment to ensuring the development of Abia State and Nigeria in general.

Furthermore, he urged the Abia State Government to continually create a friendly working environment for the labour force and provide the necessary materials and resources needed for an efficient and effective workforce.
