The Straight Child Foundation, TSCF Project Supervisor, Mr Bright Amadi, has announced that the Foundation has enrolled and commence treatment on 206 children born with clubfoot across our clinics, with about 70 percent of them below 12 months of age.
The TSCF Project Supervisor briefed our correspondent in Umuahia, Abia State on the achievements of the Foundation in the third quarter (January -March) of its calendar year.
According to him, in the pursuit of best treatment outcomes for all patients enrolled in treatment across TSCF clinics, 79.5 percent of them had tenotomies done for them (as against the global standard of 80 percent), while maintaining an average of about 5 cast per patient, from start to correction of the clubfoot (as against the global range of 4 – 6 cast per patient).
Throwing more light on the quarterly report, the clubfoot program coordinator for The Straight Child Foundation, Mr. Uchenna Egbe-Eni, disclosed that the report housed the number of patients enrolled for the month and total for the third quarter (Q3); Number of patients that had tenotomy for the month and total for Q3; Total number of braces for Q3; Patients visit for cast for the month and for Q3 (Bilateral, Unilateral Right and Unilateral Left) as well as for the braces.
Others include: Brace inventory; Size of shoe remaining (like size 1, 2 ,3, 4, 5, and 6); Bar; Remaining bars like Size 150mm, 180mm and 220mm; and Patients call follow up.
