The Abia State Secretary, Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, PFN Rev. Blessed Amalambu, has advised the Government to look into the programmes of Christian Universities and encourage the operators with fund and other resources in order to establish people with sound mind.
Amalambu, also an Executive member of Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN Abia State, who was perturbed with the incessant cases of cultism and cult related deaths in the secular Universities, made his feelings known to our correspondent in Umuahia, shortly after the 23rd Matriculation and 24th convocation ceremony of Morris Cerullo Christian University MCCU, where he graduated as a Doctorate degree holder.
He pointed out that cultism and other atrocities found in most of the Universities are rarely found in a university founded by a Christian, because scholars are set on courses that emphasized on the word of God and a sane society.
“Cultism and other social vices are not condoned in a Christian University, because there is strict monitoring and supervision. I have passed through a secular University, where cultism is becoming a problem to the government to control. It has also been equally alleged that most lectures belonged to one cult group or the other. But it is not so in a Christian University. No such thing is allowed”, Amalambu said.
Also speaking on the year 2024 International Day for Street Children with the theme, “Embracing Belonging”, Rev. Amalambu called on the government to create a Ministry of Children Affairs with enough manpower to scout for children roaming the streets.
“The government should also have a policy for such cases because street Children have formed a big menace and posed a challenge to both the government, the private sector and the civil society. Most of these children living on the streets are orphans, some born out of wedlock and some belonged to a lazy and lousy parents who pushed them out to the dumpsites as scavengers.
“Most of these children are corrupt, some of them have become spies, others have learnt so many satanic vices, because armed robbers use most of them for their operations.
“And it is unfortunate that government are yet to define its plans for such children even in this present state of the economy”.
He said with the existence of Ministry of Children Affairs, children caught roaming or living on the streets would be reorientated, engaged in skills acquisition training or be enrolled in a school, to give them a sense of belonging.
Amalambu also appealed passionately to Government and all the stakeholders involved in child adoption process, to make the process seamless, so that people certified as genuine with good heart could adopt these children and give them a sense of belonging which they are lacking.
He appreciated the United Nations for singling out a day for street Children, to create awareness on the need to give such children a sense of belonging.
