The Abia State Ministry of Information and Culture has solicited the support of traditional rulers under the umbrella, Royal Renaissance Integrity Group, as the Ministry plans for the success of the May 21, 2024 World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development with the theme, “Integrate culture in sustainable development frameworks”.
Speaking in the palace of HRH Eze Ben Oriaku in Umudikeukwu autonomous community, Oboro clan in Ikwuano L.G.A, during the meeting of the group, Mrs Folakemi Okezie, a Director of Culture, Ministry of Information and Culture, also disclosed plans of the Ministry to have a digital directory for all Communities in the state.
She described the royal fathers as the custodian of culture, who have over the years, guided jealously the culture and tradition of the land to ensure that it does not go into extinction.
Mrs Okezie further disclosed plans of the Ministry to have a better platform where they will work in synergy with the traditional rulers in the state, to ensure the smooth sail of culture in Abia State, Nigeria, in diaspora and in the foreign lands.
The Director of Culture, who appreciated the group for standing out among the traditional institution in the state, reiterated the Ministry’s vision and mission to continue to promote, propagate and preserve the cultural heritage and recreation of the state.
She also disclosed plans of the Ministry to tour Communities to document the history of such Communities, their lifestyles, ingenuity, festival, and natural disposition, which she believed would not only boost the economy of the area, but would also when uploaded in the directory of the state, have a digital coloration.
Responding respectively, the Chairman Emeritus, Umuahia North Council of Traditional Rulers and the traditional ruler of Okwulaga Afaraukwu, HRM Eze Eddie Ibeabuchi; the Deputy Chairman, Umuahia North Council of Traditional Rulers and the traditional ruler of Enyiukwu autonomous community, Afaraukwu, HRM Eze Philip Ukaegbu; and the Secretary,
Royal Renaissance Integrity Group and the traditional ruler of Eziama na Mgbaja Ossah autonomous community, HRH Eze Chiabuto Emelike, appreciated the Ministry’s efforts to revive the Igbo language and culture.
While pointing out that the digital directory is a step in the right direction and would also be a plus for the Ministry, they assured of their support for the forthcoming World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development.

Earlier in his speech, the traditional ruler of Umudikeukwu autonomous community, HRH Eze Ben Oriaku, informed the delegates from the Ministry of Information and Culture that the Royal Renaissance Integrity Group, do not only promote the rich cultural heritage of their various communities and but are known for Integrity, honesty, justice, fairness and fair play in all their activities.
