The Mayor, Umuahia South Local Government Area, Mr Ejikeme Obike, has assured the people of Nsirimo Autonomous Community, Ubakala clan in Umuahia South Local Government Area of the commitment of the present administration in Abia state to follow the rules in the presentation of staff of office to its traditional rulers.
The Umuahia South L.G.A Mayor, gave the assurance while receiving at the Council headquarters the people of Nsirimo Autonomous Community who came to register their protest against one of their sons, Mr Charles Amanze who was alleged to have falsely presented himself to the Council as the Eze elect of the community.
He called on them to remain peaceful and follow the rules in the selection of their traditional ruler as the government of the day will not be a party to the Imposition of anybody on them.
In his presentation, the President General, Nsirimo Autonomous Community, Deacon Ambrose Nwagboso noted that they were taken aback when they learnt of the visit of Mr Charles Amanze who has been allegedly causing problem in the community to the Council to falsely present himself as the Eze elect, hinting that he should be ignored as the community is still on the process.
Also speaking respectively, the Chairman of the Village Heads in Nsirimo Autonomous Community, Chief Alexander Akwuruoha, the woman Leader, Mrs Patricia Egwerendu and the Secretary General, Mr Vitus Amanze, alleged that Mr Charles Amanze was working with a rented group to cause disaffection in the community.
They stressed the need for the authorities to look into the matter to forestall any breakdown of law and order in the community as his claims were unfounded.
Contributing, the President General, Nsirimo Amaise Development Union, Mr Ifeanyi Lekwauwa and a former President General of Nsirimo Autonomous Community, Dr Callistus Agomuo while appreciating the Mayor for the audience and the good work he and his team are doing in the council area, assured that with the support of the government, Nsirimo Autonomous Community will maintain that which they are known for, which is producing people and trusted leaders of proven integrity by the end of their ezeship selection process and present to the government.
Highlight of the protest visit which was witnessed by the Deputy Mayor of the Council, Chief Nwabueze Oledingwa and the Councillor for Nsirimo Amaise, Mr Michael Nwosu, was the handover of the protest letter endorsed by the Village Heads, the Regent and leadership of the Community to the Mayor.
