Umuahia Chamber of Commerce Industry Mines and Agriculture, UCCIMA has congratulated Mr. Dele Kelvin Oye, President of Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture (NACCIMA), on the reception of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the NACCIMA.
The Honorable Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, had officially presented the MOU and the Qatar-Nigeria Business Council agreement, signed between the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the NACCIMA to Dele Kelvin Oye, the National President of NACCIMA recently.
Recall that President Ahmed Bola Tinubu and the Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, witnessed the signing of seven landmark agreements between both nations after closed-door talks at the Presidential Palace in Doha.
The seven agreements signed are a cooperation agreement in the field of education; regulation of employment of workers with the Government of Qatar; establishment of a joint business council between the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture; in addition to a cooperation agreement in the field of youths and sports.
In a release made available to our correspondent, the UCCIMA President, Chief Chidi Nkem Aruoma, believed that one of the key areas of focus for the joint business council would be the development of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
Aruoma, who appreciated the government for recognizing the important role that SMEs play in the economy, expressed optimism that the joint business council would also work to support the growth and development of these businesses.
He pointed out that NACCIMA has always placed a strong emphasis on promoting trade and investment, and “with the signing of the MOU, the joint business council would play a key role in achieving this goal.
He observed that a joint business council is a collaborative partnership between a government and the business sector in order to achieve mutually beneficial goals and the councils provide a platform for businesses from different countries to come together and discuss potential opportunities for collaboration.
He enjoined the NACCIMA President to always engage the government to provide a forum to engage with the business sector and to better understand their needs and concerns.

It would also be recalled that the documents were signed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, and relevant officials in the Government of the State of Qatar, Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi, Minister of Education and Higher Education; Dr. Ahmad Hassen Al-Hammadi, Secretary General at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Sheikh Khalifa Bin Jassim Al Thani, Chairman of Qatar Chamber of Commerce & Industry and Abdullah bin Khalaf bin Hattab Al Kaabi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior.
