Harrison Goodness Foundation, HGF has called on the government and critical stakeholders to harness technology and innovation to advance gender equality, as this remained one of the major way to inspire inclusion in the future economy.

In a release made available to our correspondent by the Co-chair of the Foundation, Dr. Mrs Gloria Harrison, HGF in commemoration of the year 2024 International Women’s Day with the theme – Invest In Women: Accelerate Progress,  HGF stated the day calls for a further action to strengthen protection against gender-based violence, and  to accelerate women’s full participation and leadership.

The Foundation observed that about 56 percent of women are living with HIV in Nigeria, and also called on government at all levels to include women living with HIV in Social Investment Fund; Conditional Cash Transfers; Palliative distribution and also create employment opportunities for them, as it will help them to live a decent and productive life.

Dr. Mrs Harrison, who pointed out that empowerment of women is the pathway to shared progress and prosperity, said that, “In Harrison Goodness Foundation, we believe that gender equality benefits everyone and leads to a more just, equitable, and prosperous world for all”.

The HGF Co-chair further harped on the need to expose interested women to the latest agricultural technologies across the value chain, market channels, first hand information on more effective production methods, practical record keeping and its essence as a tool to measure profits or losses, and also created an opportunity for knowledge sharing on  Improved Agricultural Practices, particularly as the year 2024 farming season sets in.

Dr. Mrs Harrison, also used the medium to appreciate the wife of Abia State Governor, Mrs Priscilla Otti, for calling on Governments at all levels, Public and Private Institutions, and Community organizations to invest in women in order to accelerate progress in the Society and also for calling on the State House of assembly to continue to foster laws that would protect the women and girls.

She stated that this year’s theme – Invest In Women: Accelerate Progress, resonates deeply with HGF’s mission and values, citing the scholarship scheme it offers to the female folk.
