A call has gone to Nigeria leadership to create more work and allocate the needed funds to Engineers for research and innovative technology to save the giant of Africa, Nigeria from economic woes and quagmire.
Speaking in Umuahia, Abia State during the March 4th World Engineering Day with the 2024 theme “Engineering Solutions for a Sustainable World”, an Electrical and Electronics Engineer, Chief James Nnadozie Uchegbuo, boasted that Nigeria parades first class engineers capable of helping the nation to turn the economy for better, if properly utilized.
He decried that the problem with Nigeria is that most of the politicians do not give a room for Engineering research and technology development because, “They will not personally benefit from it”, unlike what is obtainable in the Western world where billions of the country’s currency are committed to research work.
He also called on the rich individuals, groups, to contribute their resources to the indigenous engineers for research work to help limit the problems limiting the promotion of the Nigeria economic growth and stability.

“The world is divided today into developed and undeveloped and underdeveloped economy. No society’s economy can be sustainable without giving the engineers that space for innovative technology, industrialization, development of Information and Communication Technology and planning of the economy.
“In Africa, the engineers are highly underutilized. The politicians thought they can perform the miracle without the engineers. It is now crystal clear that for Africa to be sustainable and reduce brain drain, engineers must be given enough space in governance”.
Engr. Uchegbuo who observed that most of the things that breed insecurity, that reduces political stability in Africa is caused by poverty, posited that only innovative technology and engineering can save Africa and Nigeria in particular from its present condition of bad economy.
