The family of Chijioke Ikwuagwu, on Sunday, organized a Thanksgiving service/birthday anniversary ceremony in honour of their mother, Deaconess Sarah Chijioke in Abia State.
It was a gathering of family members, friends, colleagues, well wishers and members of the public at The Apostolic Church (TAC), Umuahia, the venue of the thanksgiving service.
The Chijiokes’ rolled out the drums to offer thanks to God for His benevolence and divine love, mercy and grace on the life of their mother, who clocked 70.
The birthday anniversary celebration thanksgiving service was conducted by Apostle Bernard Ugbor, the Umuahia Area Superintendent of The Apostolic Church Nigeria, at No 55 Awolowo Street, Umuahia.
In his sermon, the homilist, Apostle Ugbor, who urged children to celebrate their parents alive, described birthdays as a celebration of life, a day of thanksgiving and the perfect day to pay it forward.
While describing the birthday thanksgiving of Deaconess Sarah Chijioke as celebration of life, the clergyman who also expounded the difference between full old age and good full old age, said that the celebrant is enjoying good full old age.
Testifying, the celebrant, Deaconess Serah Chijioke, said that her being alive today was not by strength or righteousness but by God’s grace.
The septuagenarian who went down memory lane to recall all the goodness of God upon her family, thanked God for sparing her life to witness her 70th birthday.
She vowed to sustain giving God thanks till the end of her life.
Also appreciating God’s love upon their mother and their family, one of the celebrant’s sons, Mr. Chinedum Chijioke, recalled how God has helped them especially in the last 21 years when they lost their father.
He said it was necessary to honour their mother while alive hence they gathered to give thanks to God.
