Newly licensed and approved, LUX MUNDI University, Umuahia, (The First University on the soil of Umuahia, the Abia State capital), Tuesday, unveiled/presented to the public, its principal officers, deans and professors.

Speaking during the event which took at the University main auditorium’s take-off campus, New Ndagbo City, Isiama Afaraukwu, Ibeku, the Founder and Pro-chancellor, Prof. Gabriel Obiamaraije Chinedu Okenwa, PhD, KSS, OFR. explained that the name of the university, LUX MUNDI literarily means Light To The World was chosen as a way of bringing light to the society through formal education.
Prof. Okenwa, a former banker who disclosed that he sold his house and that of the family to invest in LUX MUNDI UNIVERSITY, pointed out his belief in education made him to invest in it not minding the money involved.
Okenwa, who also said that, “The value for education cannot be underestimated. What the school is taking off with is unprecedented”, encouraged all, including the religious leaders, traditional rulers to patronize the university, as courses offered are approved by the National University Commission (NUC).
He further disclosed that his foreign partners have assured that after three years the students of the school would finish up in USA.
He added that the foreign sponsorship that the university is expecting to get would be judiciously given to the qualified students.
Moreover, he commended the Akomas and Agomuo families in Afara that donated plots of land to support the University, apart from the ones he paid for, adding also that God used Reverend Father Donatus Okpokpo to ensure he finished secondary school.
In their remarks, the unveiled Acting Dean, faculty of management sciences, Professor Green Eleagu and the Acting Dean, faculty of Arts and social sciences, Professor Bob Mbakwe, disclosed that the institution is offering many courses including; Faculty of Law – LLB Law, Faculty of Management Sciences – Business Administration and Entrepreneurship, Business Administration, Project Management, Entrepreneurship, Accountancy and Forensic Studies, Banking and Finance; Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences; English, English and Literary Studies , Economics , Economics and Developmental Studies , Political Science , Public Administration, Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution and International Relations and Diplomacy.
They assured that more faculties including that of Sciences would be introduced in the next academic session and urged all to patronize the institution as it is equal to the task of illuminating the society.
In his goodwill message, the Chairman, Abia State chapter of Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, PFN, Archbishop Chikezie Elekwa assured numerical strength support to the University.
Also on his part, the Anglican Bishop of Umuahia diocese, Bishop Geoffrey Ibeabuchi charged the University to ensure that the standards is achieved and sustained.
Also in their goodwill messages the representative of the Catholic Bishop of Umuahia, Most Rev. Michael Ukpong, Rev. Father Henry Maduka; ArchBishop of Methodist Church, Nigeria, Umuahia Archdiocese, Most Rev. Chibuzo Opoko, saluted the courage of Prof. Gabriel Okenwa in bringing the University to his home town, Afaraukwu.
They stressed the need for the management of the institution to maintain the standard envisioned by the founder, Prof. Gabriel Okenwa.
The clergy men who joined hands with the traditional rulers to officially hand over and dedicate the university to God also assured the founder of the their support to ensure the university succeeds.
High point of the event was presentation of the portrait of the NUC approval to the stakeholders at the programme.
