2023 Population and Housing Census: NPC, NOA takes over streets of Abia on sensitization rally
National Population Commission, (NPC) in partnership with National Orientation Agency (NOA), on Wednesday 16th November, 2022 embarked on a sensitisation Road Show, preparatory to the 2023 National Population and Housing Census.
Speaking to our correspondent in Umuahia during the event, the NPC Abia State Director, Mrs Juliana Adaku Ezebuiro who exposed and expounded the essence and benefits of census, said that the road show was aimed at sensitising the public on the 2023 population and housing census.
According to her, the roadshow was to enlighten and sensitise the people on the Housing Census.
She assured of the NPC commitment to conducting the first credible digital census in the country.
Speaking also, the NOA Abia State Director, Dame Dr. Ngozi Okechukwu said the NOA/NPC partnership is to deepen the already established collaboration towards an aggressive mobilization of Nigerians and Abia residents for the forthcoming census.
Dame Okechukwu who was represented by the Deputy Director, Programmes, Comrade Victor Orji said NOA has established structure and channels of communication in national, state and local government areas and has also cultivated a relationship with opinion leaders and influencers at the grassroots through its presence in all the Local Government Areas of Abia State.
“Leveraging this existing structures of NOA where it has a comparative advantage over the Commission (with the Community Orientation and Mobilization Officers spread across the 17 LGAs of Abia) will ensure grassroots dissemination of the 2023 Census messages”, the Abia NOA boss expressed optimism.
The road show through major roads and streets with the metropolis, started from NPC Abia State Office by BCA Road through Ikot Ekpene/Aba Road Junction to Isi Gate Market then through Finbarrs Road to Azikiwe Road back to NPC Office.
The exercise featured security agencies.
