Speaking to our correspondent shortly after meeting with the youths of his Community in Olokoro, Eze Ogbenna reminded the voters that once they sell their votes to the wrong candidate, they have succeeded in polluting the leadership of Nation.

He pointed out that the INEC has given politicians enough time to campaign and convince the electorate to vote them in with their manifestos and promises but instead of playing by the rules as enunciated by the Constitution and Electoral Act, thereby upholding the sanctity of the electoral process and putting our democracy on an enviable keel, some of the unscrupulous politicians will like to excel in gaming the system through vote buying.

Moreover, the Royal father passionately appealed to the Federal Government and the electoral umpire, the INEC to religiously stick to their words and give Nigeria the free, fair, transparent, verifiable and credible election in 2023.

His words, “I told my youths that when I passed my Standard six in 1959, it was not more than a year immediately after independence, that I secured a job under Eastern Nigeria Development Corporation, Enugu. Then we had good leaders, because if we hadn’t good leadership, I couldn’t have gotten the job.

“I also told them that anybody selling his vote in 2023 for any reason, no matter how much they gave them, is selling both himself, his conscience, community and children present and yet to come. Honestly alot have gone wrong in Nigeria”.
