2022-2023 Rotary Year: Youth Protection Committee Inaugurated

The Rotary District 9142 Governor elect, DGE Grace Okaro has inaugurated the Youth Protection Committee chaired by Rtn Nkechi Ewenike, with a call on the committee to guide, promote and protect the rights of the youth and also celebrate cases of support for youths in the society.
Inaugurating the committee during a zoom meeting organised for the purpose, DGE Okaro said the Youth Protection Committee would be involved in all Youth programmes of the district next year (2022 – 2023 Rotary Year), to ensure that the participants were protected from abuse and enabled to benefit maximally from such programmes.
She advised the committee members to avail themselves of the current Rotary Code of Policy and the Learning Centre to access the appropriate information and knowledge to work with.
The DGE said , “Apart from fighting cases of youth abuse, the committee should also celebrate cases of support for youths in the society”.
Responding, the Chairman of the committee, Rtn Nkechi Ewenike promised that the members would work to realise the mandate of the committee.
She stressed the need for clubs to set up Youth Protection Committees to facilitate awareness creation against the abuse of youths.
