118th Anniversary of Rotary International: RC Umuahia Central, Umudike Central, Umuahia Government House D9142 Holds Joint Fellowship, Celebrates Day

As the world celebrates the 118th Anniversary of Rotary International, the Synergizer Presidents of Rotary Club of Umudike Central, Rtn. Chinwe Vivian Anyaegbu; Umuahia Central, Rtn. Glory Emuchay; and Umuahia Government House, Rtn. Olugu Kalu Ugba have reflected on the immense impact Rotary has had on the global village.

The District 9142 Synergizer Presidents who jointly organized a special Fellowship in Umuahia, Abia State to mark the day, expressed gratitude towards all Rotarians who have made a difference in the journey of the Club, also congratulated all Rotarians around the world on the special occasion and appreciated their dedication to making a positive impact on their communities.

Specifically, Rtn. Chinwe Anyaegbu remarked that over the years that the Rotary Foundation has helped Rotary members to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace by improving health, providing quality education, improving the environment, and alleviating poverty.

She said, “gifts of any size to The Rotary Foundation are appreciated and will support educational, humanitarian, and cultural programs and projects throughout the world”.

In a talk earlier titled, “Imagine A World Without Rotary”, the guest speaker and a Rotary Past Assistant Governor, Rtn. Lekwa Ezutah who exposed and expounded the intangible services rendered by the Club in the seven areas of focus namely – Peacebuilding and Conflict Prevention; Maternal and Child Health; Disease Prevention and Treatment; Water, Sanitation and Hygiene; Community Economic Development; Basic Education and Literacy and Supporting the Environment, asserted also that the Club has been providing leadership and service with integrity.

Ezutah, the Nigeria Institute of Town Planners, NITP past president, who passionately called on Rotarians to take up the political and economic leadership positions in the Country, maintained that over the years, Rotarians have been known to practice the high ethical standards in all they do and also have been helping the world to come up with good citizens.

In a goodwill message, a former Rotary Assistant Governor of the District, Rtn. Kelechi Alozie encouraged members to give Rotary a lift by influencing and converting new members to the Club.

The Rotary Assistant Governor, Zone 5, Rtn. Emeka Ogelle, the Chief Servant of Umuahia Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture UCCIMA Chief Chidi Nkem Aruoma; Rtn. Emmanuel Osodeke, ASUU President among other Rotarians, Rotaractors and guests attended the event which featured goodwill messages, birthday anniversary celebrations and the distribution of gift items.
